Chart Check: Chris Brown & Young Thug Make Hot 100 History As ‘Go Crazy’ Cracks Top 5

Published: Thursday 14th Jan 2021 by Rashad

While fans didn’t exactly go crazy for the lead single from Chris Brown & Young Thug‘s joint ‘Slime & B’ mixtape upon its May 5, 2020 release, it wasn’t long before the slow-burning tune began scorching the upper half of the Hot 100.

By July of the year, the song had become Brown’s 16th career top 10 (as we reported here) – a positioning it maintained off-and-on over the course of the months to follow.

Now, 35 weeks after its premiere, ‘Crazy’ has cracked the top 5 – a radio-fueled accomplishment that’s been accompanied by a spot in Hot 100 history books.

Details inside:

Billboard reports:

“The track completes the lengthiest ascent to the top five (35 weeks) for a song by lead males in the Hot 100’s 62-year history, and the third-longest overall, after Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” featuring Charlie Puth (45 weeks, 2020), and Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” (42 weeks, 2012-13).”

What’s more, Billboard previously reported ‘Crazy’ – Thug’s fourth and Brown’s seventh career top 5 hit respectively – is also the latter’s biggest radio hit since 2008’s ‘Forever.’

As we extend our congrats to Brown and co., look below to see who joins them in the top 25 on this week’s TGJ Chart Check.
